VOTE OF AFFIRMATION – APRIL 9th

On Sunday, April 9th, we will vote on the elder recommendation to be the church sponsor for Miguel and Maria Montenegro and their church for the Spanish speaking people in our community.  Roswell Baptist Association, Georgia Baptist Convention and the North American Mission Board have affirmed Miguel and Maria and agreed to partner with us in planting this new church.  Additionally, Dawson Memorial Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama is interested in joining with us in this partnership.

It excites me to see Crosspointe preparing to join with God in planting another church.  The events leading to this indicate that God is at work and has orchestrated another opportunity for us to join Him in what He is doing.  Besides, starting new churches is part of our DNA at Crosspointe!  It is also one of the most (if not the most) effective means under heaven of spreading the “Good News” and reaching people for Christ.

This new opportunity for our church caused me to reflect on our 15 year journey and some of the milestones or ways God has used us for His kingdom advancement…

OUR JOURNEY:

1990    – God called us into existence to spread His glory and grace in our community, nation and world

Co-sponsor of Eagle Point Church in West Cobb

1992    – God orchestrated the events of leading us to the purchase of the building we now occupy

God used Henry Blackaby, at the dedication of our building, to plant a vision that this place

would be a “strategic hub for local, national and international ministry and mission ”

1996    Sponsored the Midtown and Korean Mission church plants (Korean Mission used our building

    for 2 years)

1998    Co-sponsor of Water’s Edge Church in Cumming

2000    Partnership developed with Peter Black & El Shaddai Church (South Africa) on our 1st overseas

mission trip; Sending church for Clarence and Peggy Ledford in Ukraine

2001    Sending church for John Boyd in India

2003    God led us to take the next step in utilizing our building according to His plan and purpose

by taking over the 1st floor for church use.  The “A WALL OF HONOR” campaign demonstrated

our renewed commitment to God and to this community that we would provide a building

   dedicated to God’s kingdom work.

2005    Sponsored Adam & Kim Feldman and the Metanoia church start in Ellicott City, Maryland.

2006    Opportunity to sponsor Miguel & Maria Montenegro and Iglesia Cristiana Jesus Es El Senor

These are just a few of the milestones that relate to the current opportunity.  Yet, I think they remind us that God wants to multiply His work through us by starting new churches AND He wants this facility to be a strategic center for His redemptive mission.

Henry Blackaby made a statement that captures what we now face in our journey, “God’s invitation for you to work with Him always leads to a crisis of belief that requires faith and action.”  I am confident that God will be pleased and the Hispanic people of our community will be reached through the response of faith and action of our Crosspointe Community Church family.

Your Journeymate,

Mike

PS - Richard Poe, Director of Missions for the Roswell Association and former SBC missionary to Chile, has been instrumental in helping us with this exciting opportunity with Miguel and Maria.  So, be sure to give him a hug (or high-five) when you see him around.

HISPANIC OUTREACH UPDATE

!DIOS ES BUENO!

GOD IS GOOD!

Last week Crosspointe had the privilege of hosting an Hispanic Outreach to our Roswell community.  God answered the prayers of Miguel and Maria Montenegro and Crosspointe, when He sent the Hispanic Youth of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church of Birmingham, Alabama  to help us reach over 1000 of our Hispanic neighbors!  Over 200 children came to the afternoon Bible Clubs, which were held in four respective apartment complexes.  They played games, shared snacks, learned the story of Jesus Christ and learned to praise Him in song!  Many of them and their parents made decisions for Christ!  And many of them came to worship Him at a very special Hispanic service which was held right here at Crosspointe!  After the service the children enjoyed the huge inflatables, sno-cones and popcorn, while their parents fellowshipped with the members of Crosspointe, El Shaddai and Dawson.  How Our Lord must have delighted in seeing the union of so many worship communities!
To those of you at Crosspointe who helped with this...MUCHAS GRACIAS!  Wasn't it a privilege to serve Our King while we had the pleasure of getting to know so many fellow believers!

EASTER SERMON SERIES

“FACE-TO-FACE WITH JESUS”

2006 Easter Series

Throughout the ages much has been said about Jesus.  But what does Jesus say about Himself?  We will never spend our time more valuably than in the pursuit of knowing Jesus Christ.  Our hope is that this series would take you another step closer in the noblest pursuit of life.

“Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’”  John 14:6 (NIV)

4/16:    JESUS IS MY LIFE (I AM the Resurrection)

No matter how dark, hopeless or painful, we don’t have to question if Jesus cares or if He can do something.  Press through your disappointment of unanswered prayers, and Jesus will fulfill His purpose in your life, family and world.  Jesus had a purpose for allowing His friend Lazarus to die.  Raising Lazarus from the grave demonstrated that Jesus (The Resurrection) can bring life to anyone and anything.

4/23:    JESUS IS MY WAY (I AM the Door)

After witnessing the terrifying events of 9/11/2001, Americans became aware of our vulnerability and the reality is that everything we love and treasure in this life is vulnerable.  Too many things are beyond our control…no matter who we are or how hard we try.  Jesus promises and provides protection, freedom and fulfillment.

4/30:    JESUS IS MY SHEPHERD (I AM the Good Shepherd)

There is no such thing as self-sufficient “sheep”.  We all follow somebody or something.  Many “shepherds” can help us feel safe, at least for a while.  But are they willing to die for the sheep?  As the only Good Shepherd, Jesus provides us with everything we need.

5/7:      JESUS IS MY LIGHT (I AM the Light of the World)

We’ve all experienced dark days of disappointment, discouragement and doubt.  That’s life.  But how much has our perspective been affected by the dark days?  Many of us are in situations where we can no longer see “the light at the end of the tunnel.”  Jesus promises, that no matter what our circumstances, He will provide the light we need, light that reveals and heals.

“Jesus…Take all you want…Take all you need…Till soul is fed…And spirit freed…Till dust is dust…And Face you see…Jesus Christ…He’s all you need.”

This Month's Ministry Spotlight

Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ “Who, being in the very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness, and being found in appearance of a servant, being made in human likeness; and being found in appearance a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death...even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above very name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2: 5-11 Thank you precious Jesus for loving us so.

Church Plant: Metanoia

We are meeting on Sunday evenings, exploring the person and message of Jesus Christ together. Last month we asked you to pray for David*, a friend of ours who is open to exploring Jesus Christ and Christian spirituality with us. We recently relocated our gatherings from my living room to his house--an exciting example of his growing interest in Jesus!

Please continue praying for our team as we discover Christian spirituality in the context of community, and for David as he continues to journey along with us.

*Names changed for confidentiality.

Nursery/PreSchool Ministry

Preschool Ministry, a New Frontier

This is an exciting time in the preschool ministry of CCC.  Sunday, April 2 marks the first time in more than a dozen years that childcare will be provided exclusively by church volunteers.  This is a huge step of faith.  We are following the Lord’s leading in caring for our own children.  Just as the children of Israel are advised in Deuteronomy 6: 6,7, the training of children is to be done diligently and in everyday situations.

The Crosspointe Preschool Ministry desires to introduce preschoolers to a lifelong relationship with God.  We have opportunities on Sunday mornings during the 9:30 hour and 10:45 worship time to teach the 2 – 5 years olds; the nursery is open during the 10:45 worship time only.  It is vital that each volunteer is in their place of service on time to welcome the children into the House of God.

We have many faithful, regular preschool volunteers.  Thank you.  These volunteers perform a variety of tasks: cleaning the playground on Sunday morning (see photos below), calling extended session workers, taking pictures, organizing resources, cleaning toys, teaching the Bible lesson, providing childcare, singing songs, and planning special events.  We need your help.

We are working diligently to ensure a loving, safe and healthy environment for our children.  There are opportunities for safety training as well as policies in place for emergency situations.  Each preschool volunteer must meet certain requirements before serving in a classroom.  A volunteer must be a regular attender for at least six months, must attend a training class which includes viewing an “at risk” video provided by our insurance company and must have a background check done.  We also follow a health policy, posted in each classroom, for the well-being of our youngest attenders.

Jesus said, “Permit the children to come to Me; do not hinder them; for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” (March 10:14 NASB)  By caring for our children, we are obeying God.  Join us, Sunday, April 23, in the Parlor for a time of equipping to minister to children.  We will meet from 10:20 – 10:40 am.  This month’s topic will be safety in the classroom.

Volunteers helping spread mulch on the Playground:

Thank you!!!
