Sunday Morning Messages - 10:45am
Series: FAITH FOR THE REAL WORLD
3/5/2006 – 3/26/2006
Jude
1:20 says, "Build your lives on the foundation of
your holy faith." The foundation of a great life is
faith. In this series we will look at how you develop,
increase and exercise faith in everyday, real life
circumstances.
3/5: A Faith That Works
(Luke 8:4-15)
Do
you have the kind of faith that makes a real difference
in your day-to-day life? In the parable of the sower
only one of the four soils produced the results intended
by the seed…it produced a harvest. How? It received,
retained and nourished the seed. What kind of soil are
you? If you are not seeing the fruit then test the soil
of your heart and life.
3/12: Faith for the Storms of Life (Luke 8:22-25)
The
disciples had logged many hours on the open sea. They
knew the storm they were facing was real and dangerous.
They didn’t think they would make it through this one.
Like the disciples, you have logged many hours on the
sea of life. You’ve experienced the storms…some of
which you didn’t make it through. This passage reveals
that no storm will keep you from making it to the other
side if you just have the right kind of faith.
3/19: Faith for Hopeless Times (Luke 8:40-56)
Have
you lost hope? Do you think nothing else can be done?
Then you may be in the best place of your life. Jairus
and the sick woman were both desperate. Desperate times
require desperate measures. A man of Jairus’ statue
does not bow before a Jewish Rabbi and plead for help.
A woman with her issues does not go out in public. Both
went against the counsel of culture and experienced the
life-transforming touch of Jesus.

3/26:
Faith to Obey (Luke
9:10-17)
Are
you facing what looks like an impossible situation? Do
you feel as though any action you take will not matter?
Before you throw in the towel, ask Jesus what He wants
you to do. Then be ready to do what He says. You'll be
amazed! Do you have the kind of faith that obeys...even
when it doesn’t make sense?

This Month's Ministry Spotlight |
|
|
Rhonda
Lantz and her family have been a part of the fabric of
Crosspointe since it's beginning. Over the years, she has
demonstrated her servant's heart through ministry in various
areas. Some of those areas include: Back Yard Bible Club
support, facilitator of Women's Bible Study classes & fifth grade children's classes, host home for one of the
first couple's Bible studies offered, ongoing charter
member of the youth Y'ALL team, supportive Elder wife,
and Pointe Hospitality coordinator. Most recently,
Rhonda has added
to her ongoing ministry areas by caring for our
nursery children during the 9:30 hour. Throughout the
years, Rhonda's has graciously offered her home as a place for church
group celebrations and a "home away from home" for visiting folks including a
Summer Youth intern. Her favorite verse
is Isaiah 46:4:
"Even to your old age and gray hairs
I am he, I am he who will sustain you.
I have made you and I will carry you;
I will sustain you and I will rescue you."
Thank you,
Rhonda, for expressing God's love for others through
your service!

What: “Greenwood”
is a young, up-and-coming band with a heart for God.
Their inventive and unconventional musical style has won
over audiences from major music festivals to intimate
venues alike. This five-piece band expresses their
personal passion for God through thought provoking
lyrics and innovative instrumentation, incorporating a
violin without making it the focus of the group. All
five members are Christians, but wish to redefine the
stereotypes associated with those who believe in God and
the music they play and enjoy. Greenwood’s current
concert tour focus is “offering hope through God to a
lost and searching society” and supports their 2005 CD,
“the Hope Dialect”.
Visit the band's website to learn more about the
group and

Church Plant: Metanoia
|
| |
We are experimenting with our first cell gathering.
"Cells"--groups of 5-12 persons with a pre- existing
connection with one another--are the grassroots
expression of Metanoia. They are the entry point for all
non-Christians and the primary location for carrying out
the mission, values, vision and functions of the church.
We began our first cell during the final weekend of
January. Fifteen inches of snow, sickness and the deaths
of loved ones precluded us from meeting regularly
through most of February, so we were forced to be
extremely flexible and patient with the coordination of
our schedules. Despite the unexpected hardships we
faced, we were not deterred from our desire to worship,
fellowship and go "on mission" together within the
context of our first cell environment.
This past Sunday we invited two non-Christians to
join us: David and Jonathan*. David's younger
sister--a friend to most of the planting team--passed
away two weeks ago. We felt that we would be remiss to
not wrap our arms around David and his circle of
friends, tangibly bringing the love of Christ through
helping to clean up his house and extending an
invitation for him to discover healing and hope in
Christ within our cell environment.
Inviting David and Jonathan was a huge milestone
for Metanoia! While only David was able to attend,
he surprised us all with his high level of participation
and interest in what we were doing. David later told us
that he would come back to our next cell gathering and
intended to bring his roommate Jonathan. We are
ridiculously excited about David's receptivity and
excitement for what God is doing in his life.
Please pray with us for David and Jonathan's
continued receptivity to Jesus and His gospel, their
salvation and their future roles in our new church. Pray
for our team as we make ourselves available to love on
David through the loss of his sister.
*Names changed for confidentiality.

Tammy's Thailand Update |
|
|
Maybe I should call this a Missions Update - I know it’s
almost March and I took my Thailand trip in mid-January
but you must understand – I’m already packing my bags
for South Africa. Ok, maybe not packing my bags but
planning, preparing and fundraising for Crosspointe’s
return to South Africa – July 6th-21st.
There are over 500 children waiting on us this summer.
Needless to say there is a lot to be done. I will soon
be putting out information on how you can be part of the
team – through prayer support, financial support,
gathering supplies and working fundraisers. I can’t
wait to see what God does through the people of
Crosspointe as we continue partnering with Him to reach
the lost throughout the world. One thing is certain –
God will remain faithful just as He was faithful to me
in Thailand.
The Thailand trip came into being almost over night. I
represented Crosspointe at a Pioneers Church Partnership
Forum in early November where I heard of the need for
people to take care of Missionary Kids while their
parents attend meetings during their Area Conference.
My immediate thought was, “Wow! What a practical,
hands-on way to minister to our missionaries. I need to
check this out!” One week later God affirmed this
thought, connected me with a team headed for Thailand,
gave me the money I needed (“Thank You” to those who
willingly contributed) and I was on my way.
God blessed and blessed! Four airports, three plane
rides, a mini-bus ride and almost 30 hours later I was
at the conference site safe and sound, awake, energized
and ready to go! Roommate situations can always be
interesting – Joy and I were instant best friends…2 peas
in a pod! We thought alike, dressed alike, acted
alike. That’s a God thing! Not only did my roommate
and I work well together, so did the entire team. We
put together Bible Stories, puppet shows, games, crafts
and lots of other activities for 30 precious children 2
months old to 10 years old. We facilitated a morning
session, afternoon free time activities and an evening
session for 5 days. We shared God’s love, had a lot of
fun, and helped a great group of kids make some memories
while their parents received training, encouragement and
some much needed R&R. Then, God brought me home safely
but left a part of my heart attached to this very
important ministry.
Please join me in prayer for God’s direction for
Crosspointe in this mission arena. I have been invited
back to the same conference (along with anyone who would
want to join me). But, even more exciting to me is the
possibility to help facilitate the children’s ministry
for John Boyd’s area conference in June of 2007.
Mark your calendars now!
Thank you again for another opportunity to “Go”!
Tammy Minear
