South Africa: Mission Trip Prayer Emphasis

The last directive Christ gave his followers was to “go, baptize….and teach”. In the wee hours of July sixth, our mission team of 28 will be making their way to Hartsfield International to fly to South Africa. Peter and Johanna Black and their church of El Shaddai, await their arrival. For several weeks, we have been providing a list along with contact information for you to make this trip a very personal one for you as well by adopting a family, individual or individuals to intentionally pray for during this 25 day mission trip. If you missed the prayer card, extras are located on the reception desk. Let us faithfully pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ and for the children of Shosongouve as they hear the Good News of the hope of Jesus Christ.

Hispanic Church Plant News

Training

Our vision as a Hispanic church is to reach the Spanish-speaking communities for God.  Therefore, one of the first things we are doing is to train our people to do His work.  Recently, we had the opportunity to share about how to testify the Gospel of God to the unreached people through a special training session.  We spent a whole day training 15 people.  It was a great experience for everyone.

Miguel & Maria Montenegro

**The Montenegros are also extending an invitation to join them in some upcoming ministry opportunities.  If you would like more information about teaching English to the Spanish-speaking community in Roswell or about volunteering at an October Health Fair, please contact the church office (770-640-9959; ccc@crosspointeonline.org).

This Month's Ministry Spotlight

Back Yard Bible Club Servants

How many people does it take to provide a memory-making Back Yard Bible Club for unchurched children? It takes an entire Body of Christ! Equipped with leadership from both our children’s director, Tammy Minear, and our Hispanic pastor, Miguel and Maria Montenegro; close to one hundred children where ministered to with the loving Gospel of Jesus Christ. Several of our youth, adults and members of the upcoming South Africa Mission team provided the “hands on” at the site while over a dozen grandmothers, moms, children and youth provided lunches for the hungry crew each day. Add the prayer support of the entire church and what do you get? Twenty eight people who prayed to receive Christ as their Savior! A very special “Thank You” to all those that served and supported this vital local outreach. To God be the Glory!

Back Yard Bible Club Closing Remarks

God laid on our hearts the plan for Crosspointe to partner with Miguel & Maria Montenegro and the people of the Hispanic Ministry in a Back Yard Bible Club at Wood Creek Apartments in Roswell.

Then God…

Battled for us and with us in spiritual warfare

Gave inspiration to the “Live The Adventure” curriculum

Gave us the support of our church and families

Built a team

Facilitated the purchase and gathering of supplies (From T-shirts to trash bags)

Cleared the road ahead of us – giving safe passage across HYW 9 to Woodcreek and back again each day

Caused us to be flexible

Worked in spite of a pressure washer going full blast during story time

Gave us a place to unwind after a big first day – Thanks Leduc Family!

Provided gorgeous weather from start to finish

Gave us just enough shade

Kept us on schedule – even when we had to paint 128 T-shirts

Empowered up to load and unload 6 vehicles each day (twice)

Joined with us as we laughed and joined us as we cried

Gave us a lunch man and ladies – to provide our lunch meal, set-up & clean up each day

God Empowered us to…

Pray, Pray, & Pray some more,

Cheer, Recite, Act, Operate Puppets, Teach, Sing, Color, Paint, Play games

Serve, Give, Serve, Give, Serve, Give

Love, Love, Love, Love, Love, Love

THEN God…

Empowered us to share the gospel

Planted many seeds

And

Gave us an even louder voice of praise as He Brought 28 children into his family!!

To God Be the Glory!!!

Be Blessed!

Your Crosspointe B.Y.B.C. Field Team,

Tammy, Scott, Shelbie & Colby Minear

Church Plant: Metanoia
God in the Park:

This summer we will be experimenting with a Bible study aimed at creating an informal, safe environment for non-believers to encounter the teachings and stories about Jesus Christ. We have opted to have the Bible study in a local park near Main Street and to spread the news about the Bible study strictly by word-of-mouth. Part of our strategy is a firm belief that people introduce people to Christian community and to Jesus Christ. We hope to see this played out by entrusting our non-believing friends who are receptive to us and to our belief in Jesus with the opportunity to not only explore Jesus together, but to invite their friends as well. Likewise, since it is the summer, most local college students will have more time to be social and to participate in something like this.

This is a great risk for us! It is the kind of thing that will either go well (perhaps getting up to two dozen more folks involved in the plant) or will be a huge failure (picture Matt, Scott and I sitting alone in a field... our wives not even showing up out of pity... Matt passes a stale bag of Tostitos to Adam... Scott slurps his Nalgene bottle... someone coughs... a cricket chirps...). We intend on starting the Bible study in mid-July. You will be updated on how it is panning out. Please pray for us as we step out in faith...

Missions Update

Crosspointe on Mission: South Africa July 6-21, 2006

One Final Update Before We Leave

TRUST in the LORD…TRUST…TRUST…TRUST is the message from God the South Africa team continues to hear this year.  Proverbs 3: 5 & 6 says, “TRUST in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your path straight.”

Those who look at our path through worldly eyes would say it is anything but straight...tickets were purchased then had to be sent back, straight through flights – now 3 plane changes and people traveling 3 different routes, the team members were in place then 2 became unable to go, we can do a name change on the tickets then we couldn’t, I did not have to be a driver now I do, normally trusted suppliers sent broken items, a passport is held up in processing due to birth certificate issues…I could go on an on but refuse to dwell on the problem - in GOD I remain confident!  He was not surprised by anything that has come our way!  I refuse to give Satan any credit!  God has orchestrated things in His time and His way putting us on a DIRECT PATH to accomplish in and through us all that He desires to do!

Psalm 40:4&5 says, “Blessed is the man who makes the LORD his trust, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods.  Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders you have done.  The things you planned for us no one can recount to you; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare.”  Pray for us that we continue to put our trust fully in God – abandoning ourselves to Him that we will be blessed and then turn to all we encounter on our journey and be a blessing!

I can hardly wait to try to count our blessings with you and find them “too many to be declared.”

God is good all the time and all the time God is good!

Grateful for God’s Grace,

Tammy
